1. What the service is
VSS is a free tool that checks vessels against publicly available sanctions lists — including the OFAC (US), EU, UN and UK lists, among others. It aggregates official public data to support your own sanctions due diligence.
2. Not legal or compliance advice
The results provided by VSS are for information only. They do not constitute legal, compliance, or other professional advice, and they do not replace your own due-diligence obligations. See our Disclaimer for important detail on how to interpret results.
3. Accuracy and no warranty
Sanctions lists change frequently. We aggregate official public sources and take care to keep the data current, but we do not warrant that it is complete, accurate, current or error-free. You must verify any result against the original designating authority before acting on it.
4. Acceptable use
- You may use VSS for lawful sanctions due-diligence purposes.
- You may not misuse the service, attempt to disrupt, overload, scrape or circumvent it, or attempt to breach its security.
- You may not use VSS to facilitate sanctions evasion or any other unlawful activity.
5. Availability
VSS is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the service at any time without notice.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, VesselSanctionsScreener and its operator shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from the use of, or reliance on, the tool or its results.
7. Intellectual property
The tool, its design and its original content are the property of VesselSanctionsScreener. The underlying sanctions data remains the property of the respective issuing authorities.
8. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts of the Netherlands.
